Animal Love

I have just realized that my family were naturally animal lovers and that includes me. I am pretty sure my siblings will guffaw at the comment of considering myself an animal lover since they knew me as the animal sadist when we were little. I used to destroy anthill mounds and pour boiling water on the ants and there’s this story about what I did with the kittens …well that was when I was small..
I have been contemplating joining PETA after having seen the Korean movie “Le Grand Chef”. There is a truly heartbreaking part where the chef had no choice but to sacrifice his pet cow in order to win the cooking competition. I cried a river on a scene where the cow shed a tear after learning that his friend is giving him away…. As if the cow had agreed to sacrifice itself for the good of his friend. Now, I’m crying again…I should stop watching movies of the same kind but don’t get me wrong, this a good movie but I would not suggest it to be seen by animal lovers. People who like to cook like myself will appreciate the cooking skills showcased in the movie. A scene showed a skillfull handling of a blowfish, a fish which could be pose hazard since this particular fish is poisonous when not done the right way. The brutal killing of the blowfish ( fish prepared sashimi style – I think it’s a Japanese delicacy) makes me want to be a vegan.
I personally think animal slaughterhouses should do it the humane way such that less pain or no pain will be experienced by these animals before finally taking it’s life such sensitizing the animal before finally killing it, (as far as I know, only Monterey Meats practices this) because like us, animals too have a well developed Central Nervous System, and can feel the agonizing pain the same way as we do.
Isn’t it in the US they have a strong law against cruelty to animals both for domesticated animals and the ones for consumption? I hope the same law will be applied to the country.
